Summary position on left-right scale - derived from responses to 5 questions that ask respondents how much they agree or disagree that (a) Government should redistribute income from the better-off to those who are less well-off (b) Big business benefits owners at the expense of workers (c) Ordinary working people do not get their fair share of the nation's wealth (d) There is one law for the rich and one for the poor and (e) Management will always try to get the better of employees if it gets the chance. Responses to these questions are combined to give an overall position on a left-right scale. Scores have then been divided into quintiles based on responses.
